A simple drawing set
- Plain drawing paper or a sketchbook
- HB pencils for everyday drawing
- A soft eraser
- Coloured pencils or crayons
These basic items let children draw, add details and use colour. Choose supplies that feel easy to handle and replace when needed.
Painting supplies to add later
If your child wants to paint at home, consider washable paint, a few brushes in different sizes, thicker paper and a water cup. Cover the work surface and follow the product label. You can wait to buy extra colours, specialty papers or larger kits until your child has tried a few projects.
Ask what a class includes
Supplies vary by class, so check before buying materials for lessons. At OPSMA, materials for regular class projects are included. Children work on guided drawing and painting projects in weekly 60-minute small-group lessons.
