Check the age group and class format
Ask which ages the class is designed for and whether students work in a group or one to one. A class should be a reasonable fit for your child’s age and current experience. OPSMA offers weekly small-group art lessons for children ages 5 and up. See the current information for ages 5–7 and children ages 7–11.
Ask what students learn
Some classes focus on open-ended projects, while others teach specific skills. Ask whether students will practise drawing, painting, colour, or other art basics. At OPSMA, students work on guided drawing and painting projects. Read the curriculum overview for examples.
Confirm the schedule and cost
Before registering, check the current class time, length, age group and fee. OPSMA group art classes run for 60 minutes and cost $25 per class. The current schedule is listed on the main page. Openings can change, so contact the school to confirm.
Ask about materials and a first visit
Find out whether students need to bring supplies and whether a first visit is available before monthly enrollment. Materials for regular OPSMA class projects are included. Families may book one free trial class before deciding on monthly enrollment. The trial is free; regular classes cost $25 per 60 minutes. See what to expect at a first class or browse basic art supplies for home.
